15 hundred scales

"Back when Jinafire Long and Skelita Calaveras were introduced via last year's Scaris: City of Frights themed line, many -- including myself -- wondered if we would ever see these characters in doll form again. And beyond that, we wondered if/when new dolls came, would they be basics or themed dolls? Although the Scaris dolls did feel strongly tied to that line, they also seemed kind of basic-y, you know? As we now know, Skelita has returned in the form of an Art Class doll. And even more excitingly, Jinafire is back too -- and she is indeed a new signature/basic doll!"

New Scaremester Jinafire

She's here! Funnily enough, it was almost exactly a year ago today that I got Jinafire's Scaris doll -- November 16th, 2012. I remember because it was exactly three days before my birthday that I picked up her, Skelita, and Rochelle at Justice. (Well, that and also I documented it here.) I'm heading out of town tomorrow morning for a few days but when I get back I'm hoping to take more shots of this girl, ideally for a full review! In the meantime, here are a few teaser pics...

Teaserzine

I've gotten everything scanned for my next review. I didn't need to take any pictures for this one because it's going to be another "MH Ephemera" review. The Fashion Sticker Stylist article was really fun to write, and it got a great response! That combined with the fact that these type of books truly are my kind of thing lead me to picking up Stickerzine, a book similar in style to the FSS, but with a different approach. It's a pretty straightforward sticker book, not so much a paper doll collection. You cool cats here at The Sequel get the preview...

I scanned every page of Stickerzine so anyone "playing along at home" can print them out to put together their own version of the book. Pretty cool, in that super-nerdy Voicething way!

Catty Noir Overrides And Invades All Voicething Outlets!

She came from out of nowhere and suddenly there she was -- everywhere! Flickr, Tumblr, even The Sequel's sister blog Voicething. There was Catty, loud and proud and possibly the fiercest we've ever seen her! Why did she target Voicething? What does it all mean? We're not sure, but we have a feeling this isn't the last we'll be seeing of this ferocious feline... and we wonder if next time she'll bring some friends along with her...

She's a real scream...

I took the pics for my Scarah Screams review today. As we all know my outdoor shots are infinitely better than my indoor ones and so that's what I was hoping to do for the Scarah review. But the mosquitoes were out something fierce today (one of the downsides of living a couple miles from one of the largest rivers in the world), and while they usually don't bother me too much, mosquito bites on still-healing poison ivy skin ain't no joke. And so I packed Scarah and all her wonderful accessories up and headed back inside for the shoot. I'm not entirely pleased with it, mostly because I feel I didn't truly capture Scarah's beauty, nor her eeriness. (Those eyes! Or rather, non-eyes!) But I did get a few shots I really like, and for all intents and purposes the rest should work in a review format. Anyway, you guys get the preview! Hope you like them...

I really love Scarah's logo. It literally couldn't be any more perfect given her theme and look.

This is my favorite combination of Scarah's clothes and accessories. I know, she's not wearing a necklace or any bracelets, but with this mod look they're really not needed. The belt and glasses get the job done nicely on their own.

Those eyes! So creepy and odd yet alluring and sensual.
Mattel's been a bit hit-or-miss lately with MH, but when they get it right, they really get it right!

I hope Scarah thanked Mod Barbie when she borrowed this midi coat from her.
Lord knows it was an inspired fashion choice. (And what a silhouette!)

Scarah is effortlessly cool. Check out that skull print on her right.
It's spooky without being ostentatious about it. Ah, subtlety.

How odd that one of Scarah's necklaces is a leftover from Lagoona. It works, though.

Truth be told about 75% of my love for Scarah probably stems from the freaking coat. I can't get enough of it.

Seriously. Effortless. Hey Mattel, more Scarah please!
