Rebels Day Out

I've been far too focused on the Royals lately. Well, Apple and Ashlynn mostly. Hunter's been getting some Voicething love but its all been in connection with Ashlynn. So today I set aside some time for just the Rebels. It was much needed...

Chillin' villain  rebel style.

It was fun to photograph Raven again. It had been quite a while. I think she looks radiant here, in her pale, Goth chick kinda way.

I couldn't resist going way OTT with the saturation here. All that purple!

Hunter's such a sweetie. He picked some flowers for Ashlynn...

...and carefully stowed them away in his satchel to give to her later.

So thoughtful. And cute. I love Ashlynn for her beauty and hate her for her dreamy boyfriend.

Maddie had really fallen off my EAH radar. I had actually kind of forgotten about her. Taking her out today, I totally rediscovered how cool and pretty she is!

Look at that face! Totally cute! (And delivering just a hint of attitude here that I was previously unaware she even possessed!)

Mind the kettle, Madeline!

Her pinky-tan skintone is unique among the EAH dolls. No others have it. Ditto those aqua eyes.

Yep, like the mighty phoenix, my Maddie appreciation has been reborn! She may be colorful and sweet but she's also a tad sassy and surly. (In doll form, anyway.)

Thanks for looking!

Visceral Plastic

Another day, another hike, another photo shoot. I wanted to see what Apple and Ashlynn would look like tarted up like MH ghouls so I decked them out in Operetta and Abbey's finest. In hindsight, given the location of the shoot and the fact that it rained, the dolls probably would've fit better thematically in their stock outfits. But I didn't know where I was going to shoot them when I dressed them, just that it would be somewhere outdoors. Enough of me rambling, here's Apple and Ashlynn...

Once I straightened her hair Legacy Day Apple shot way up on my Appreciation-O-Meter. (It's a real thing. It's very scientific.)

You know what I say to all you MH-lovers-but-EAH-haters? SUCK IT. Suck it hard and suck it good because this doll is gorgeous and just as great in every possible way as the best MH dolls out there.

Yes I use a fork to stand my dolls up when outside. Don't judge!

Apple is pointing out the river behind her. She'd make a great local tour guide. Or The Price Is Right Showcase Model. It's all in the hands.

It was raining during this entire shoot, by the way. Do you know how hard it is to keep dolls dry long enough to get decent shots in the rain? Very, very hard.

Yes, she's fierce. No, don't fuck with her. I'm looking at you, MH snobs.

I'm not really happy with this shot (Ashlynn's face is drenched), but I love the texture of the wet branch behind her, so in it goes!

"You can worship me later, when I'm bored and need a good laugh. Ta!"

So perfect it hurts.

Thank you for this line, Mattel! Keep pumping out dolls the caliber of Ashlynn and you'll have a very long lasting line, no doubt about it!

As always, thanks for looking!

Ashlynn and Hunter: Beautiful Dolls, Beautiful Couple

My local Justice store finally got the Ashlynn Ella + Hunter 2-pack in today! Woo-hoo! As an introduction, here are a few quickie pics I took of them immediately after de-boxing. Picture quality isn't great but I think the dolls' beauty and elaborate detailing shine through nonetheless. Better pics (and possible review?) coming very soon! Until then, I present to you... Ashlynn Ella and Hunter Huntsman...

The happy couple.

My, Hunter, what big... shoes you have!

Isn't he just the handsomest thing ever?

Just my opinion but Hunter > any MH male doll. Hunter is the best male doll I own, period.

Oh, Ashlynn. What a beauty you are. I'm transfixed.

One of her best attributes, in my opinion, is her pure green eyes. Not aqua, not olive, just pure, beautiful green.

Best EAH purse yet, in my opinion. And check out those lovely "glass" slippers. Sigh.

Although it looks a bit ratty here (I had just de-boxed her), Ashlynn's hair is actually ridiculously soft and supple.

I love the way the aqua netting of her sleeves is binded into three portions and flares.

Her dress is astounding -- so much detail, highlighted by all those beautiful, rich colors.

What a lovely faceup. Love those plump lips.

Ashlynn and Hunter, I applaud you. You're both wonderful dolls. Good job, Mattel!
