As you probably know, I'm a frequent visitor to the
Monster High Dolls forums. It's where I go to keep on top of all things MH (along with the also fantastic
MH Insider). But I love all kinds of dolls; MH may be my favorite line but I'm always curious about what else is out there in the doll world, especially new stuff. Which is why I was excited when MHD opened a section devoted exclusively to
similar doll lines. Ever since, I've been able to follow and comment on all kinds of new dolls being released. A little over a month ago a thread opened dedicated to a new line called
Pinkie Cooper. I immediately expressed interest in the line, and a few days later when I learned Pinkie could wear MH clothes, it was decided -- I would be adding one of these unique dolls to my collection! It took a while for my local Toys R Us to get Pinkie and her friends in but after many visits over the past several weeks I was finally able to get my hands on one! They had all three solo dolls, including the one I'd decided a while back was my favorite...
As with my first Equestria Girls post, I'm not gonna go too in-depth. The box back explains the set-up pretty well on it's own...
It's a really vacuous set-up. I went to the website and it was cringe worthy.
Luckily, as you'll see in a bit, the actual dolls are really cool and unique.
And in case you need further instructions, there's a handy insert folded into the box...
Pinkie and her friends are anthropomorphized dogs. Their ears are basically pigtails that come in two colors. You can pop the "ears" out and switch them around, giving your doll a different hair color. That's the gimmick, but the real draw for me is their eyes. Aside from the fact that they're massive, they're inset into the headmold, making them look more realistic than usual for a doll. As a huge fan of both Blythe and Pullip it's probably clear why the Pinkie Cooper dolls would appeal to me. In fact, when I first opened my doll I turned her around just to make sure there wasn't a lever or pull string back there to make the eyes move. (There wasn't.)

Pepper has green eyes and her hair colors are black and auburn. I feel like the other two dolls are cool but look a lot alike, whereas Pepper seems to have her own thing going on. In echos of the Equestria Girls, Pepper's outfit isn't anything like the one shown on her box. And like the 'Girls, Pepper's manufactured outfit isn't nearly as cool as the drawn one. I like the color scheme but the design is very "doll dress", it definitely looks like an outfit made for a toy. It's also a tad childish looking. She comes with solid blue heels, a white purse, matching brush, and a silver bracelet. Unfortunately she doesn't come with a stand, but I've found that one of my La Dee Da stands works perfectly for her. The only downside is that you can't pose her legs in it. But it holds her in place, and you can still pose her arms and head, at least.
Uninspired outfit and lacking stand aside, I really like this doll! Her ears/hair is
really nice. It's soft and silky, with a mild wave throughout. It's not rooted especially thickly but it's not sparse or anything. All the rows are correctly aligned and there aren't any random longer or shorter strands. The two colors are well defined; when looking at her, the color in back just looks like highlights. The whole color change feature works well. The pegs are easy to remove but they also stay in place once inserted. All her joints work fine. She's articulated at the neck, shoulders, elbows, and hips. Her knees have click joints (four points). Like MH dolls, you pull her forearms out to change her clothes. She can hold a variety of poses, and she holds them well. For a nine inch doll she feels surprisingly substantial. She has a bit of weight, something I like in a doll. Most importantly, she has a lot of personality. A lot of people seem to find these dolls weird looking, which I have to admit I get a kick out of. Pepper is cool.

How could I not use the CAM bone barrette on this doll, it's too perfect!
As you can see the heels aren't a perfect fit, but they stayed on surprisingly well.
It's a bit "bunchy" in back.
Pepper can indeed wear MH clothes, but it takes a little "doing" to get them to fit. Certain smaller pieces won't fit at all. She can also wear some, but not all, MH shoes. Again, this sometimes takes a little work to get them on correctly. I haven't tried any other lines on her. Pepper was $15.99 at Toys R Us; she'll probably be a few dollars less at other stores. My opinion? She's worth it. Especially if you have a lot of MH clothes you can try out on her. For what it's worth, I plan on getting one more PC doll, the Paris version of Pinkie. (I like her curly hair.)
Pepper borrowed Catrine's tail. It's too cat-like to look realistic but it answered some questions I had.
That was the Pepper of the post title. You ready for the "rock"? Since Pepper's dress perfectly matches Dance Class Rochelle's eyeshadow, I decided to try the dress on her. Bottom line? I was blown away! The dress that looked a bit childish on Pepper looks rather stylish on Rochelle! Take a look...
Not bad, eh? And to further prove Rochelle is nothing short of a
goddess, check her out in the signature outfit...
Si belle!
Good thing Rochelle's hair is laying where it is; she had a "wardrobe malfunction" here that I failed to notice when I snapped the pic!
Rochelle, we're not worthy. If I were into religion I'd totally build one around you, that's how amazing you are. For the time being I'll just continue using my blogs to spread the good word that is you.
Plier a sa beaute!
In other news, I finally got my hands on the Sunset Shimmer/Twilight Sparkle set. Part Two of my Equestria Girls coverage is pretty much ready to go, but now that I have SS and TS I don't know if I'm gonna start over on it or just save those two for their own post. Anyway, thanks for reading! Til next time!
